Grupo de Teatro SINERGIA and the FRIDA KAHLO Theater in conjunction with the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles, present an
audio-visual exhibition “DISRUPTING THE MAINSTREAM”, a retrospective of SINERGIA’s 35-year history presenting original theatre works in Spanish and English that deal with contemporary issues directly impacting the Latinx community. The exhibit will run Aug 19-Sept 18th, 2022, at the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles’s new home, 1901 W. 7th Street, Suite A & B, Los Angeles, CA 90057.
The exhibit, first of its kind for a Latinx theatre in Los Angeles, will document the history of Grupo de Teatro SINERGIA and FRIDA KAHLO Theater and its impact on the community, highlighting the group's most significant productions. In addition to plays, the exhibit will also feature work generated by young artists and community members in the form of photography, animation, and theater.
Each Friday at 7 pm., we'll do a live presentation highlighting a different aspect of the theater. Our Friday Night Program (subject to change) will include artist interaction, excerpts from our best-known plays and our community classes. Schedule is as follows:
Opening - August 19 excerpts from the play “The Women of Juárez”;
August 26 showing of “Waiting in the Wings”, a USC Documentary on Grupo de Teatro SINERGIA, as well as a presentation on our Acting Class for Youth;
